Death Cab For Cutie Add 2012 tour dates

“Bright,” “uplifting,” and “perfect” have all been used to describe Death Cab for Cutie’s recent tour performances with members of Magik*Magik Orchestra. The indie demigods are riding the success of their latest album, Codes And Keys, which debuted at #3 on Billboard 200 upon its release. For years Death Cab for Cutie’s lead singer Ben Gibbard’s vocals have been a categorical descriptor for indie’s gloomy, introspective, and looming tone; and while fans have adored his style, only now has the group’s sound been fully realized with the orchestral additions. As guitarist Chris Walla explained to Billboard

“These are my favorite shows that we’ve played so far…Aside from what happens musically, which is totally great, Minna Choi is a fantastic arranger, the players are totally world class, it’s just really fun hearing that album cycle fifteen years into the band and having really different chemistry on stage. It’s not like anything we’ve ever done.”

It’s rumored the band will likely take a hiatus after this tour (especially in lieu of Gibbard’s recent personal events), so catch them before it’s too late. Bay Area readers can purchase tickets to Death Cab for Cutie’s performance tonight at the Fox Theater in Oakland through our iPhone app, while general fans can find tickets on Thrillcall’s Death Cab for Cutie’s artist page.
